Heathkit HW-99 CW Transceiver (80, 40, 15, 10 meters) + SP-99 matching speakerI picked up this beautiful rig recently thinking I really wanted it in my shack, but I do not. I am addicted to QRP, and while this rig runs at QRP levels just fine, I've got its predecessor, the HW-9, coming back to me from being refurbished. So, with the HW-9, my K2, PFR3, FT817, plus a few other rigs, the HW-99 will wind up collecting dust. It needs to be in the shack of a Heathkit true believer. (I do not want to put it on Ebay.)This is the rig that the Heath Company aimed at the Novice and Tech markets – very simple to operate, built in power supply, VFO-controlled covering the bottom 250 kHz of 80-40-15-10 (no 20 meters).I've had it on the air and logged Qs on both 80 and 40. 10 and 15 have been dead in my neck of the woods, CW-wise.
I've run some tests, and the on-air tone is beautiful; easily powers down to 1 watt and even lower, but you'll need a good watt meter (like the OHR WM-2); and each band knocks out a solid 50 watts (not with the WM-2 attached, however). The front panel power pot allows you to adjust power to any level from 1 watt or less up to 50 watts.
The receiver is very good. The rig does need to warm up as it tends to drift only a bit.Originally this kit sold for about $300 or more. The condition of this radio is very good, only a few scratches on the case. You can see photos of the rig and the scratches on line:is firm at $175.

That includes shipping (from Denver) to USA only. DX-I'm sorry; it's too much of a hassle. Rig and speaker will be shipped insured either UPS or USPS – and double-boxed.Dick Schneider AB0CDEmail: [email protected].
